Laundry Day the Eco Friendly Way

Keeping our clothes clean can be one of the most energy hungry and environmentally unfriendly activities we do. Not only does washing our clothes in the machine and using the tumble dryer take lots of energy, detergents can cause damage to the natural cycles as they eventually seep into our rivers, streams and groundwater.

But there are natural and far more energy efficient methods of doing one’s laundry and they can also save you £££’s in saving energy and the cost of expensive detergents.

Firstly, instead of using environmentally damaging and expensive washing machine detergents try an eco-ball. Eco balls produce ionized oxygen that activates water molecules naturally allow them to penetrate deep into the fibres of the clothes – doing away with the need for detergents.

Eco balls can also be used time and time again and they really do work with the cost savings in detergent alone making a noticeable difference to your monthly shopping bill.

And if you live in a hard water area then similar balls can be used to help remove the limescale that often builds up in machines. These are a chemical free limescale removal method which is much kinder to the environment.

One of the most energy hungry practices during laundry day is using the tumble dryer. But there are far more energy efficient methods of drying clothes. Nobody wants to leave damp clothese strewn over radiators but clothes airers are a better method allowing you to dry clothes naturally whilst also keeping the radiators free to heat the room.

Clothes airers, when hung high up, are a comparatively quick method of drying clothes and they take advantage of all that rising heat that eventually dissipates out of the home anyway.
